What Sadio Mane did straight after Chelsea game as Liverpool set for January decisions

Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane travelled to the Africa Cup of Nations with Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy after the two met in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Mane scored the opening goal in the 2-2 draw between the two sides, taking the ball past Mendy and tapping into an open net.

Liverpool's Mane was also part of a controversial moment in the opening minute of the contest.

ANALYSIS: Henderson and Milner problem emerges plus big replacement dilemma

Challenging for a header with Spanish defender Cesar Azpilicueta, Mane caught the 32-year-old with his forearm and received a yellow card.

But the pair put aside their club rivalry aside to travel to fly to AFCON together, with the tournament kicking off on Sunday, January 9.

The duo will represent Senegal in the prestigious African tournament, their first game being on January 9 against Zimbabwe.

Liverpool will be without Mane, plus Mohamed Salah and Naby Keita for several weeks as the trio represent their nations in the competition.

It means the Reds stars will miss the two Carabao Cup games against Arsenal, plus the FA clash with Shrewsbury Town.

On top of that, they will be absent for Premier League clashes against Brentford and Crystal Palace.

Jurgen Klopp now faces big decisions on how to replace his attacking talents in starting line-ups over the course of January.

Diogo Jota remains available as things stand, but Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi are currently on the sidelines, with Roberto Firmino also ruled out temporarily due to Covid.
