Sabri Lamouchi contract: What Nottingham Forest boss has said about extending deal

Nottingham Forest are in a tricky situation with regards to Sabri Lamouchi's contract at the City Ground.

Unusually, the Frenchman penned a one-year deal when he agreed to take over from Martin O'Neill on Trentside in the summer.

Lamouchi has guided Forest to fifth place, with the coronavirus pandemic halting all play until it is safe to resume.

Rumours claimed Wolverhampton Wanderers were sniffing around Lamouchi when Unai Emery was sacked at Arsenal.

Molineux boss Nuno Espiritio Santo was rumoured to be interesting top Arsenal chiefs, with Lamouchi on their hitlist if the Portuguese made the move to North London.

Covid-19 has complicated the situation further, with Lamouchi's contract ending in the summer.

Matches could yet be played through June and July if the season is to be completed.

He was last quizzed by NottinghamshireLive on his contract system before the turn of the year.

“I am happy with the people at the club, with the boss, with the CEO,” he said back in December.

“They are smart and they are transparent.

“We will find the right time to discuss that, but is the right time now?

“We don’t know where we will be after one month, after two months.

“We want the same things - the best for Forest.

“We will just keep working, keep going; nothing else.”
