As millions continue to work from home, many are turning to second and third jobs on top of their full-time work.
London research agency The Mix surveyed 2,000 people and found dealing in shares, forex or cryptocurrency was the most popular way of earning extra cash, with almost a third of people with another job saying they were trading online.
This was closely followed by part-time entrepreneurs setting up craft businesses and selling their work, such as recycled furniture, through online marketplaces.
One in five had extra jobs in service, retail or delivery businesses, while 15 per cent had taken on more work in health, food, beauty or wellness schemes.
Gemma Mitchell of The Mix, said the changes in work practices could mean a complete end to the traditional nine to five.
She added: “Side hustles are not a career-change ambition, they are a new way of life.”
