What's the weather forecast for the North East this weekend?

It's fair to say the weather has been fairly unpredictable recently.

With bright, warm sunshine transitioning alarmingly rapidly into snow, it's been difficult to know whether you'll want suncream and a T-shirt or a winter coat.

So what does this weekend have in store?

Luckily it seems it will bring some slightly more run-of-the-mill UK spring weather.

Here's what the Met Office say we can expect:

Saturday will see cloud spreading inland from the coast during the day.

Towards the West, we should seen some "brighter spells" but it will feel "cooler" in the East. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

On Sunday it will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle on an easterly breeze.

In Newcastle, rain is likely to hit around 1pm.

There's a similar outlook into Monday, and into Tuesday it will be "chilly" but brighter.

The rest of the week is likely to also be fairly cold, but temperatures will gradually increase back to the seasonal average, especially in sheltered and sunnier parts of the country.
