What's the point? Video shows youths kicking out at wing mirrors as they casually walk down street

Police are investigating after CCTV showed a group of youths kicking out at the wing mirrors of cars as they walked down a street at midnight.

Five people can be seen in the footage, which shows a number of cars being targeted. One of the youths also simulates sex against a car door, before the group moves on to the next car.

The video was taken at midnight on Friday night, April 26, on Marlborough Road in Kirkby-in-Ashfield.

James Berridge, 44, who has lived on the street all his life, told the Chad it was "idiotic, brainless and wanton destruction".

He said: "There was a party up the road [on Friday night] - we could see them coming out and running about on the street so we knew there was going to be trouble.

"It's just wanton destruction of property but the owners have to pay the price for it.

"It's a shame because the street used to be really quiet.

"They tried kicking my door mirror in but missed and started getting amorous with it instead."

Tool setter Mr Berridge said a neighbour had reported the incident to police and he had shared his footage with them.

He added: "I just wanted to make people aware and show what's happening on our streets."

The video shows one of the group kicking at one car, before moving on to another where one kicks out at the wing mirror and another simulates sex.

"Anyone with any information is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 166 of 27 April."
