What's the most you've ever spent on an item of music memorabilia?

An acoustic guitar owned and played by Robert Smith of The Cure sold for a whopping £27,500 at a Bonhams auction house yesterday, well above the estimated selling price of £3,000-£5,000.

The guitar, which had been used on the band's 2008 world tour, had been signed and inscribed by Smith with the lyrics for a not-yet-released song, That Boy I Never Knew.

A rare signed copy of With the Beatles also fetched a large sum at the London auction, going for £18,750.

What's the largest amount of money you've ever shelled out for an item of music memorabilia? And why did you buy it – finanical investment, or just out of love of the band? Whether it's £20 for a Japanese album import, £100 for Prince's toenails or a cool million for a Beatle's hand-me-downs, tell us about your purchases in the thread below.
