Every week a Guardian Money reader submits a question, and it's up to you to help him or her out – a selection of the best answers will appear in next Saturday's paper.
This week's question:
My partner, aged 52, is considering taking early retirement. We'll face a big drop in income but could just about manage. I'm more concerned about how he will cope as work has been a big part of him. What's the secret of making it a success? Or should I just talk him out of it?
What are your thoughts?
