THE BIG PICTURE FEST

Saturday & Sunday, Newcastle

Strap on your shoes and get walking around the Newcastle CBD this weekend to experience 12 large-scale street murals located throughout the city. It's the first time The Big Picture Fest will be held in Newcastle and it aims to reactivate art. The art can be viewed by livestream or people are welcome to roam the streets and view the art in person, however, there will be marshals to ensure social distancing. The fine folks of Dashville are holding a series of music concerts starting on October 2 and running through to October 10 at their Hunter Valley property. While there are limited tickets to the live event, music fans can catch the acts on livestream. JEFF MARTIN

Lizottes, Saturday, 8.30pm

The Tea Party frontman is a regular visitor to Lizotte's, but his Songs of Led Zeppelin show is something completely new from the Canadian-born Australian. Martin will perform solo renditions of Led Zeppelin classics over two 40-minute acoustic sets using a collection of his rarest instruments.

HAMILTON ALPINE CLUB

Cambridge Hotel, Saturday, 8pm

The 10-piece indie-jazz collective make their return to live performance following the COVID-19 lockdown, joined by fellow Newcastle band Viragos. It'll be the first opportunity to hear The Hamilton Alpine Club perform songs off their second EP Opus Ego.

THE BIG DRAW FESTIVAL

Saturday & Sunday, Museum of Art and Culture, Booragul

A series of free drawing workshops will be held to focus on a greener, brighter future after a year of climate change, bushfires, and a pandemic. Bookings for each session are essential. Sessions cater for young children to teenagers and adults. Parents accompanying children are limited to one for each booked child. Visit Lake Macquarie City Council's website for details.
