After their loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, the Tennessee Titans will regroup, lick their wounds, and turn towards the future. And, despite this loss, the future is bright for the 2020 AFC South champions.
With every offseason comes a long list of priorities — some accomplished, others not. In my opinion, a successful offseason for the two-tone blue hinges upon their ability to do one thing: keep an elite offense intact.
The departure of offensive coordinator Arthur Smith could happen as early as next week. Smith is regarded as one of the hottest candidates for head-coaching vacancies around the NFL.
It will be important for head coach Mike Vrabel to transition to an offensive coordinator that can deliver with the team’s current personnel. The best way to give a new coordinator a shot is to retain the present formation of the offense.
So, here’s my plea to general manager, Jon Robinson: find the money. The Titans enter the offseason with several key free agents; among them, wide receiver Corey Davis and tight end Jonnu Smith.
With the Titans’ defense needing significant help, they should outsource for talent. This would likely mean the departure of inside linebacker, Jayon Brown, but fellow LB David Long has played well in his stead.
Robinson must re-sign Davis and Smith, and return all eleven starters — give or take an Adam Humphries — in 2021.
