What's happening where you live as Neath Port Talbot Council promises £4.3m of improvements in every ward

Towns and villages across Neath Port Talbot are set to see improvements to roads, drainage systems, traffic management systems, cycle tracks, parking and a whole host of other things in the coming months, after Neath Port Talbot Council pledged £4.3 million of improvements to "spruce up and rejuvenate public areas in local communities".

The Council has confirmed every ward in the county will see some investment, organised as part of Neath Port Talbot's work programme for 2022 to 2023. The improvement projects include "widespread road and footpath resurfacing schemes, vital drainage projects, replacement of street furniture, new bus shelters, road safety and traffic calming measures plus work on bridges," the council has said. For more stories about Neath Port Talbot Council, go here.

Additionally, the planned improvements include a £2 million+ investment on vital work across the county involving landslips, road markings, sprucing up roundabouts, replacing old subway lighting, drainage works and replacing benches in parks and open spaces.

The funding was approved by the council's street scene and engineering cabinet at their meeting on Friday, March 18. Speaking after the meeting, cabinet member Mike Harvey said: "We really care about our environment and the feedback from our Let's Talk consultation confirmed that this is also a priority for people living and working in the county borough.

"As part of our 'Recover, Reset, Renew' corporate plan we promised to help 'catch up, clean up and green up' communities right across the county borough. This injection of more than £4m into a string of community improvement programmes will bring our infrastructure up to date, make our roads safer while building on the very strong sense of community we have in Neath Port Talbot."
