What’s happened to Jason Day? The bizarre injury causing his struggles at The Masters with

Jason Day’s injury problems continue to thwart his progress as he required treatment on his back just TWO HOLES into the opening round at The Masters.

The Aussie, who tied second in the 2011 Masters, had been looking to shake-off his injury-prone tag going into the event in Georgia.

But cameras captured the moment he required assistance early into the round as he was pictured laying on the second tee box with a trainer attempting to stretch him out.

The suggestions were that he sustained the injury lifting up his daughter, Lucy, before the round and, if confirmed, that will come as a frustrating blow as it was only earlier this week that he said: “There’s no pain in my back.

“I was carrying my little daughter and hitting golf shots in the par-3 and everything is good.”

Golf Channel writer tweeted: “Jason Day on the second hole and already getting worked on, re-injured his back after picking up his daughter before the round,” after cameras of the live coverage also witnessed his struggles.

Onlookers noticed that he looked uncomfortable as he continued to play on, but he continued to hang in there, posting respectable scores.

All the talk leading up to the event was that injury would scupper his chances of building on a solo major win back in the US PGA in 2015.

Day had not played since Valspar last month, where he missed the cut but he finished eighth at the Players Championship this season and was one of the fancied players if he could shake off any injury issues.

His best finish at Augusta was tied second in 2011, when Charl Schwartzel claimed a -14 victory by two shots.
