What’s behind the crackdown on Uganda’s opposition?

The campaign for Uganda’s election is off to a violent start.

At least 37 people have died in protests triggered by the arrest of the most famous opposition figure, Bobi Wine.

He has been charged with breaking COVID-19 rules during a campaign rally.

Wine says he was tortured in detention and accuses the government of intimidation.

But the government is blaming Wine’s supporters for the unrest.

So just how much of a threat is he to President Yoweri Museveni in next January’s vote?
