What Russell Martin has said in response to Nicolas Raskin's dad's criticism

Russell Martin refused to be drawn into Nicolas Raskin's dad's criticism of the Rangers boss.

The Belgian midfielder's father, Thierry, was heavily critical of the Englishman after his son started on the bench as the Ibrox men were thumped by Club Brugge.

Martin was asked about the 24-year-old's future post-match and failed to rule out the possibility of him being sold before the transfer window closes on Monday night.

That saw Thierry take to his personal social media account to have a go at the manager and his 'oversized ego'.

Martin has today denied a rift with the player in his press conference and was also quizzed on his response to his dad's comments.

He insists he's not letting it come into his "realm" and is happy to allow people to have their opinion.

He said: "I think everyone has an opinion, everyone is entitled to an opinion, supporters, players, players' families, all of that.

"So I just can't let it come into our realm. We're working and that's all we're here to be focused on Sunday, to win the game."

There had been suggestions Raskin was not training with the rest of the squad and would not be involved in the derby against Celtic on Sunday.

The manager insists he is in training and under consideration for his matchday squad, which he has not yet decided upon.

He added: "I think everyone's here, everyone's available, and the squad and the team will be picked on what we think is the best way to win the game. Nico is in training today.

"I'd describe my relationship with all the players, all the staff as honest, open. I don't think you can have anything else apart from that.

"There's not a breakdown in any relationships here. If it's honest and open, there can't be a breakdown in any relationships."
