What Romelu Lukaku has told Inter Milan as Chelsea target's transfer stance becomes clear

Romelu Lukaku has reportedly told Inter Milan he would like to move to Chelsea if an appropriate offer comes in for him this month.

The Blues are determined to re-sign the 28-year-old, who left Stamford Bridge on a permanent basis in 2014, but are likely to have to spend over £100million to land him.

Chelsea have already seen three offers for Lukaku turned down, with the latest one being Marcos Alonso and £85m, football.london understands.

However, Inter stood firm over the Belgium striker and are demanding over £100m for his services, and it has now been reported that he wants to leave the San Siro.

According to a report from The Athletic on Wednesday evening, Lukaku told Inter earlier on in the day that he wanted to return to the west London-based club.

The Inter striker has spent the whole summer saying that he is happy in Milan and he wants to stay with last season's Serie A champions, but there has seemingly been a change of heart.

It looks like Chelsea have persuaded their former centre-forward to change his mind, with the club 'readying a huge contract offer'.

The report claims that Thomas Tuchel is a 'huge admirer' of Lukaku, and his stance has been a 'significant factor' in Chelsea making a move for the Inter star.

Erling Haaland was Chelsea's priority this summer, but Borussia Dortmund stood firm in their stance over the Norway striker.

Dortmund reiterated time after time that Haaland was not for sale and the deal was deemed as virtually impossible by the Blues in the end, which is why they turned to Lukaku in the end, football.london understands.
