What Romelu Lukaku did after stance on stunning £105m Chelsea summer transfer was confirmed

Chelsea's search for a new centre-forward rumbles on.

Despite winning the Champions League last season, a lack of goals was evident throughout the Blues' squad with Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham the joint-leading scorers with just 12 across all competitions.

As a result, it's safe to assume that signing a prolific striker is the main priority for Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia and head coach Thomas Tuchel between now and deadline day.

Among the names being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer to fill the void has been Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski and Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Erling Haaland.

Another striker rumoured to be Chelsea's radar is Romelu Lukaku as a sensational return to west London has been heavily touted, especially if a deal for Haaland doesn't materialise.

However, it seems as though any potential transfer will have to wait – at least for the time being – as Inter Milan CEO, Giuseppe Marotta confirmed the club’s Lukaku stance clear.

"Can Lukaku be considered non-transferable? From our side, yes, absolutely," he told Italian outlet Sportmediaset, via The Chelsea Chronicle.

"Lukaku is an important element in this chessboard at Simone Inzaghi’s disposal.”

That would all but confirm that Lukaku won't be returning to SW6 and he appears happy with that stance after being pictured in an Inter Milan training session looking relaxed and focused ahead of the new season.

He even received a pat on the back from the new Inter boss.

Lukaku would have been a slightly cheaper alternative to Haaland at £105million, as per the Daily Mail, although he has recently insisted that he is happy at Inter.

When asked by former Manchester City winger Trevor Sinclair if he fancied playing in Pep Guardiola's side, Lukaku's reply all-but confirmed his stance on leaving Inter this summer.

"I am happy at Inter," he said.
