Manchester United look set to sign Donny van de Beek from Ajax - and some comments from Rio Ferdinand will be of interest to fans.
The Reds have endured a barren summer in terms of transfers so far with slow progress on attempts to recruit Jadon Sancho.
But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains focused on trying to add quality to his squad ahead of the 2020/21 Premier League season.
And this weekend 23-year-old Van de Beek emerged as a target for United, and they are confident of making him their first signing of the summer transfer window.
Ajax of course made it to the semi-finals of the Champions League last year with his help and it was last summer that he was linked with a transfer to Tottenham.
Spurs never ended up pulling off a deal for Van de Beek back then, something which may benefit United this summer.
As for United fans, though, Van de Beek is a potential transfer that supporters should be excited about and previous comments from club great Ferdinand hint at what he would bring to the Reds and Premier League.
Ferdinand was on punditry duties last year during Tottenham's Champions League semi-final win over Ajax and during the two-legged tie he hailed the Dutchman.
Ferdinand said at the time : "One of his best traits when I watch him is his ability to drift into positions. It's very difficult for a centre-half to mark him. He goes in that little corridor of doubt in between the midfield and the centre-halves where he frees himself up to make those passes or get shots off."
