What pubs could be like when they're open and lockdown has ended

British boozers could look a lot different when lockdown ends and they're open to customers again.

We're possibly talking temperature checks at the door and not being able to order at the bar.

Pubs could actually open earlier than expected alongside restaurants, according to the Prime Minister's latest announcement.

And as landlords wait for firm dates, many chains are looking at ways of making it as safe as possible for their customers, Mirror Online has reported.

Measures including the use of perspex screens and one way systems are being explored.

The Wetherspoons chain has already said it intends to plough millions into making premises safer, including extra hygiene measures and use of screens.

And Manchester bar Albert’s Schloss has given people even more of an insight into how pubs could look for the foreseeable future.

The bar and restaurant on Peter Street has installed clear screens, changed its menu and the maximum capacity has been cut to assist with social distancing, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Staff could even ask customers to leave the venue and seek medical attention if they believe anyone appears unwell or is displaying symptoms.

Chief executive of British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) Emma McClarkin has said some pubs could face uncertain futures.

Miss McClarkin added: "We're not asking unless it's safe to do.

"Pubs are currently on a very highly tuned Government life-support machine.

"The longer they remain on it, and with all the other medicines they have to pay for, some won't survive.

"Once pubs close they are very, very hard to resuscitate."
