What Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was told before lifting the Community Shield for Arsenal

For the second time in the space of four weeks, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had the honour of lifting a trophy as Arsenal captain.

The first was the FA Cup at the beginning of the month as he scored twice in a 2-1 win over London rivals Chelsea, although he was somewhat red-faced when it came to the presentation.

As he carried the trophy over to his teammates, he managed to drop the FA Cup - much to the shock and laughter amongst the likes of Alexandre Lacazette, Nicolas Pepe and David Luiz.

Mikel Arteta confident Aubameyang will sign again with Arsenal

However, his head coach Mikel Arteta saw the funny side to it and had a message for the Gunners no.14.

"It (dropping the trophy) can happen. I think it happened a few years back as well," Arteta noted after the FA Cup final. "He needs more experience with trophies.

"You know we can get him used to that!"

And Arteta was true to his word as Aubameyang had to wait just 28 days for another chance to lift a trophy. This time it was the Community Shield as he netted the decisive penalty shootout after Takumi Minamino had cancelled out his first-half opener at Wembley Stadium.

Fortunately, there was to be no repeat of what happened with the FA Cup.

Although, that could have been thanks to some advice from Sead Kolasinac.

In the 'Access All Areas' video uploaded to YouTube, at around the 5.30 mark the left-back can be seen gesturing about how to hold the shield to ensure his captain wasn't left red-faced again.

It's unclear as to exactly what Kolasinac said, but it's apparent that Aubameyang took the instructions on board.

Speaking after the game, Arteta delivered an update on Aubameyang's contract situation.

"No. I keep saying the same thing. I try to do my job which is convince him he is in the right place, that he has the right environment here to produce like he has done today and like he did three weeks ago [in the FA Cup]," Arteta said.

"I'm very positive he is going to sign. But there are a lot of things involved in a contract deal and we are trying to solve them.

"I'm not worried because we can try to do as much as possible to convince the player or tell them what we think and put all the cards on the table to try and keep him here but after is the part of the player and the agent that have to agree.

"I think we built a really good relationship between us and hopefully we can do it. Now I am confident and happy, I see how he behaves everyday and how much he smiles in training.

"Believe me, with Auba that's a really good sign.
