What Petr Cech said about Aaron Ramsey, his time at Arsenal & his fond farewell

Petr Cech has praised the impact Aaron Ramsey has had on Arsenal, describing the Welshman as a “core of the dressing room”.

The midfielder bade an emotional farewell to the Emirates Stadium after his side were held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton in their final home game of the season - a result which all but ended the Gunners' hopes claiming a top-four finish.

Ramsey, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, is leaving Arsenal at the end of the current campaign to join Juventus.

But Cech, who himself is retiring from professional football after more than 20-years in the game, believes the 28-year-old gave everything he could during his 11 years with the north London club.

“No,” Cech told Sky Sports when asked post-match whether he could sum up what Ramsey has brought to the Gunners.

What Arsenal's draw against Brighton means for Chelsea and Spurs in the battle for the top four

"When you have someone who spent more than 10 years in the same club you obviously as a player who come in these are the core of the Arsenal dressing room, the Arsenal club.

“Losing a player like that is always a big loss for the club, for everybody.

What Aaron Ramsey said in an emotional Arsenal farewell that has Spurs fans mocking the Gunners

“When he came from Cardiff no one really knew how great a player the club brought in.

“I think he gave everything he could all those 11 years."

"It’s a shame he couldn’t be on the pitch because everything he has done for the club he would deserve to be on pitch and maybe the score would be better."
