What Pep Guardiola told Phil Foden at half time during Man City vs West Ham

Phil Foden has revealed Pep Guardiola's half-time instructions during Manchester City's draw with West Ham at the London Stadium.

Guardiola named the same team that defeated Porto at the Etihad Stadium in midweek, the first time in three years the City boss did not change his starting XI.

City fell behind after Michail Antonio's stunning overhead kick and were unable to find an equaliser in the first 45 minutes.

Foden replaced Sergio Aguero during the interval with Guardiola confirming after the game that the Argentine had suffered another injury.

The youngster's introduction resulted in City levelling the scores as he finished superbly following some excellent work from Joao Cancelo.

Foden revealed Guardiola instructed him to change the game by injecting some energy into the team.

"Just try to be lively, come on and make a difference," he told BT Sport when asked what Guardiola told him before his introduction. "I tried to do that, got the goal and it's unfortunate we didn't get the second. On another day, Raheem [Sterling] finishes his chances.

"We came out in the second half playing quicker and more aggressive. We need to work on finishing more chances and we'll be okay.

"We started slow in the first half, weren't passing quick enough around the back and didn't have a good tempo. The manager spoke well at half-time and we came out playing some good football.

"I always like to get into the box and arrive there and I enjoy scoring goals so I'll try and continue that form. It's nice to be playing as much as possible. I love this club and love playing for them."
