What Pep Guardiola told Man City players after analysing Brighton

Pep Guardiola has warned his Manchester City players of how good they will have to be against Brighton after reviewing footage of Graham Potter's team.

City will be expected to pick up a comfortable home victory against the struggling Seagulls even without Sergio Aguero as they look to push their way to the top of the Premier League table and continue their recent form.

However, Guardiola has been enthused with Wednesday's coaching counterpart since coming up against him in an FA Cup tie at Swansea in 2019 where City had to come from behind in to win, and is an advocate of how Potter has set Brighton up to play in the Premier League.

While upcoming matches with Crystal Palace and Aston Villa look like a real opportunity to move closer to Liverpool and United if not past them, City's manager insists he is only thinking about Brighton and sharing his findings with the players was the first thing he did when he saw them on the pitch.

"Brighton. I am only concerned about Brighton. The rest haven't occupied one second of my thoughts - just Brighton," he said.

"They are a joy to watch and analyse. When you see them, you are concerned about the quality. The first words that I said to the players today on the pitch were that we will have to be at a high standard to compete against them, forget the results we have had in the past.

"The quality that they have seen very single game - they have better stats in all departments except maybe the final third where they were not brilliant but what they create and what little they concede.

"I am a big fan of Graham Potter. From when I faced him for the first time at Swansea, everyone plays in their position and the ball comes, there is the courage to play everywhere. I like how they play a lot and it will be a good test tomorrow after a lot of games for everyone. That is why tomorrow's game is my only concern."
