What Pep Guardiola has said about Man City transfer target Jack Grealish

Manchester City are willing to break a club and British record fee to sign Jack Grealish this summer.

The Aston Villa star has been linked with many Premier League clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United and City thus far, however it has now been revealed that Pep Guardiola is confident of winning the race due to the £100 million fee they are willing to pay Villa.

A deal is not expected to be completed before England's participation in the Euros is over, as Grealish has vowed to remain fully focused on his team's campaign, hoping to go all the way under Gareth Southgate.

City's priority for this transfer window is to sign replacement for Sergio Aguero.

But with Harry Kane and Erling Haaland proving difficult to get and a number of the current squad considering their futures, the Blues have seized the opportunity to sign Grealish, who would improve their forward options.

Guardiola has already spoken about his admiration for the player and no doubt that would have added to Grealish's desire to move a club such as City — especially after revealing his favourite player in the team is Kevin De Bruyne.

Last October, after Villa were defeated 3-0 by City, Guardiola made some comments about the Villa captain.

He said: "He’s incredible. A top player. I’m happy he stayed in the Championship to defend his club when he could have gone.

"He’s a talented player who always creates something. [Grealish] is an exceptional player but too expensive for Manchester!"

Of course, the latter statement might not be the case anymore. City have proven in the past they are willing to splash the cash for the right player and Grealish could be that man.
