What Pep Guardiola did to two Liverpool players on touchline after Man City goal

Pep Guardiola produced a bizarre touchline reaction to Manchester City’s equalising goal against Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds raced into the lead during the first half courtesy of a well-taken Mohamed Salah strike into the top left corner, though were pegged back 10 minutes later when Julian Alvarez slotted home from inside the area.

Delighted with his side’s response, Guardiola responded by celebrating in the direction of the home supporters - before attempting to provoke a reaction from Kostas Tsimikas.

The Greek left-back, who was walking past the Catalan coach on the touchline, was approached gleefully by Guardiola but did not react to the animated gestures from the City boss.

Keeping his head down, Tsimikas ignored the ex-Barcelona manager and was not interested in interacting.

Following closely behind the Reds’ substitute was Arthur Melo, who accepted Guardiola’s invitation for a handshake and was patted on the head as he walked by.

Unsure as to how Tsimikas in particular kept his cool in the heat of the moment, BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand said: “That celebration, I don’t know how Tsimikas hasn’t pushed the opposing manager Pep Guardiola out the way!”
