Paulo Gazzaniga will now get an extended run in the Spurs team as he bids to become the club's No.1 goalkeeper.
Hugo Lloris is not expected to return to action until next year following the dislocated elbow he suffered in the defeat against Brighton, thus meaning the Argentine will step up and fill his shoes for the time being.
Gazzaniga earned plenty of plaudits in his 11 appearances for the Lilywhites last season and he will once again be hoping to make a name for himself between now and the end of the year.
While he is used to filling in for his teammate when needed, he has opened up on what it was like replacing Lloris when he was stretchered off the pitch in agony at the Amex last weekend.
"This was different," he told the club's official website. "I wasn’t comfortable seeing Hugo coming out of the game in that way.
"Everyone knows what he means for the team and for the Club, our captain.
"Now it’s about having the right mentality and being focussed, starting against Watford."
The Lilywhites need to win against the Hornets given their recent results and Gazzaniga has stated he is ready to go when they visit N17.
"It’s always the same answer, I’m ready,” he added. “I try to be focussed. I believe in myself and my team-mates, and that’s the only way.
"We know we have to be strong. At home, especially, we have to be strong."
