What Paulo Dybala said about playing with Paul Pogba that gives Man Utd transfer hope

Manchester United fans who are getting excited about the possible arrival of Paulo Dybala at Old Trafford should cast their minds back to something the Argentinean said last year.

And then they can get even more excited.

The prospect of the Argentinean arriving at Old Trafford from Juventus in a swap deal with Romelu Lukaku has started to gather pace over the past few days , with United looking to do a deal before the Premier League transfer window shuts on August 8.

And if Dybala was to complete the move then he would be likely to line up alongside his former Juve teammate Paul Pogba at United, with the Frenchman's own possible move away from the club looking less and less likely this summer, especially now that suitors Real Madrid seem to be keeping hold of Gareth Bale.

Dybala and Pogba were only teammates for one season at Juve after the forward joined the club from Palermo in the summer of 2015, with Pogba switching back to United a year later.

But they were on opposite sides in the Champions League last season when Dybala's goal gave Juve a 1-0 win at United in the group stages, and Pogba starred as the Red Devils won the return game 2-1 in Turin.

Speaking after the matches, Dybala said: "It was great to see to see Paul again because we’re good friends. The first game [at Old Trafford] was amazing for me, and the second for him.

"But it was just nice to play against him. We have remained in touch since he left [ Juventus ]. We’re still very close and who knows, maybe in the future we can play together again on the same team."

That possibility could now come to fruition, with Dybala set to hold talks with Juve boss Maurizio Sarri to discuss United's interest.
