Paul Pogba believes that Sir Alex Ferguson was ultimately the driving factor beyond the club's success during his reign at Manchester United.
The legendary manager lifted 38 trophies in 26-years at the Old Trafford helm, delivering the Premier League title in his final season eight years ago.
The top-flight triumph remains the most recent in United's history, although the club are on course to at least compete for the title under the guidance of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this year.
A serious title challenge has been long overdue for United and Pogba admits it has been difficult for the club to find their feet following the Scottish manager's retirement back in 2013.
While the French midfielder was quick to praise the incredible players who worked under Ferguson at United, he believes the genius of the manager was the biggest factor behind their illustrious glory years.
"I think they had a team that had been playing together for a long time," he told Sky Sports.
"Experienced, young players, new players that came in. A lot of superstars, legends that had been there from the academy.
"When you play together for a long time, you have a manager who has been there for a long time. That makes a difference.
"I think the Fergie time; he had been there for many years, knows the club, knows everything and when you have a person like this in the club leaves, then obviously it is going to be a big impact.
"It did (have a big impact). But we are rebuilding this and we want to go back to this era."
