What Patrick Bamford is expecting from Manchester United clash

Patrick Bamford is the latest Leeds United player to discuss his expectations ahead of Wednesday's clash against bitter rivals Manchester United.

Marcelo Bielsa's men are preparing to play the Red Devils in a pre-season friendly at the Optus Stadium in the first of their two-match schedule in Australia.

Talking to LUTV, Bamford gave an insight into what he's expecting from Leeds' first clash against Manchester United since 2011.

"To be honest I'm expecting a good runaround," he said.

"They'll be a team that keep the ball and it'll be a great game to get our fitness out of. There'll probably be periods where we don't touch the ball for a while and then we'll have it for a while that's how it is the big teams that let you have the ball and then pounce on mistakes. It's going to be a good one for focus and a good one for fitness.

Bamford was the quizzed about the rivalry between Leeds United and Manchester and how it would affect the atmosphere.

"I'm not sure how rowdy the Australian Leeds fans are but I'm sure it'll be a great atmosphere and they're excited for us to come out here and obviously Leeds against [Manchester] United, that's a massive game," he said.

The former Chelsea forward paid tribute to the Leeds United fans who have made the 9,000 trip to follow their team to Australia.

He said: "I think you appreciate it even more after flying that whole way you understand how big of a commitment it is to come out here so it means a lot and it just shows how big a club and how big the support base is.

He said: "It's come round quite quick I think, especially when we get back from Australia. It's not long at all then and we just want to get started as soon as possible."
