Orkun Kokcu is reportedly a summer transfer target for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta.
The 19-year-old currently plays his football in the Netherlands with Feyenoord and has been attracting interest from across Europe, with a series of standout displays in midfield this season.
However, the Gunners are said to be leading the race.
According to the Daily Mail the north London outfit have opened talks with Feyenoord about a potential move for the teenager in a deal that could end up costing in the region of £23m.
It's been reported that technical director Edu has identified Kokcu as a priority signing for the summer, with Arsenal keen to tie up a move before Euro 2020, with Kokcu set to take part for Turkey.
Furthermore, it's claimed that head coach Arteta is keen to oversee a summer clear-out at the Emirates Stadium in order to fund a move for Kokcu.
Matteo Guendouzi, Sokratis and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are those mentioned who under threat of being sold at the end of the season, while top earner Mesut Ozil could also be allowed to leave.
Interestingly this rumour came out just hours before Kokcu was due to feature for Feyenoord in a KNVB Cup semi-final against NAC Breda.
But all the speculation didn't have an effect on the teenager.
Starting and playing the whole 90 minutes at De Kuip, Kokcu helped his side reach the final of the competition with a 7-1 thrashing of the Eerste Divisie outfit.
Despite not getting on the scoresheet or recording an assist, Kokcu did ensure the hosts enjoyed 60 per cent of possession against Breda and will be looking to taste victory in the final against Utrecht.
Kokcu's potential arrival in north London could have an effect on Dani Ceballos. The Spaniard has been on loan at Arsenal this season but Arteta has said they are yet to discuss a permanent transfer.
"We haven't had any discussions about it," Arteta said in his pre-West Ham press conference. "I'm really happy with Dani and what he's bringing to the team right now. It took him a while after his injury to get to the level that he has and that I've seen in the past.
"He's performing much better now and that's why he's playing much more games."
