What Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thinks of Jack Grealish as Man City 'open talks' over transfer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already shared his feelings on Jack Grealish as Manchester City prepare to ramp up their efforts to sign the winger.

Pep Guardiola is a massive fan of the England international and wants to bring him to the Etihad to bolster his squad.

However, Aston Villa have priced their captain at £100m to ward off interest in the player.

That has not deterred City, though, who have opened proceedings over a transfer this summer - but, initially, Manchester United were the most interested.

The Red Devils wanted to sign the 25-year-old last year with Solskjaer keen on the winger.

And the Norwegian has already stated his admiration for the Villa star last season when the two sides met in the Premier League.

Solskjaer said: “The goal he scored last season was a brilliant goal and we’ve faced him enough times to know it’s going to be a difficult game.

“He’s a player for Aston Villa and England who has only improved.

“I don’t want to say too much about other teams’ players but of course he’s a player we know we have to look for.”

Despite the interest in Grealish's services, Villa remain confident he will stay at the club this summer.

They are preparing to hand him a new contract which will see his £130,000-a-week wages go through the roof.

But whether Grealish will sign it or not remains to be seen with the winger set for crunch talks this week after returning from holiday.

Villa are adamant that their summer signings are designed to be built around their talisman rather than as replacements.

Emi Buendia was brought in from Norwich City in a deal that blew Arsenal out of the water while they are also interested in Gunners ace Emile Smith Rowe.

Ashley Young has also been signed, returning to the club he spent four years at prior to his move to United.

Villa are also looking to bring in Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen as Dean Smith looks to bolster his attacking options.

And after splashing out on Jadon Sancho, it is unlikely that United will make a move for Grealish after failing last year.

The Englishman cost the Red Devils £73m while Raphael Varane is also set to arrive from Real Madrid.

City, on the other hand, have made Grealish a top target while Harry Kane is also in their sights.

Signing both could prove borderline impossible - with the combined cost possibly coming to quarter of a billion pounds.
