Chelsea have been linked with a move for Angel Gomes this summer but Manchester United are still hoping to secure his future.
The 19-year-old is out of contract in the summer with the Red Devils being unable to agree a new deal for the midfielder.
With a summer of uncertainty set to be an issue for many Premier League clubs, free transfers might be at a premium over the transfer window.
And Gomes could be one who is free to move from Old Trafford this summer with the player and club yet to come to an agreement on a new deal.
The youngster has featured twice in the Premier League for the Red Devils and is seen as a big prospect having come through their academy.
While Tahith Chong put pen to paper on a new deal with the club in March, Gomes is yet to do so.
Something his boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, is hoping will happen before he is allowed to leave for free.
“With Tahith we’re very happy he sees his future here, we can see a very good player there and we’ll give him time to develop,” said Solskjaer back in March when Chong signed his new deal.
“That is the same with Angel. We hope we can convince him in the near future and long term future that he’s a Manchester United player.”
