What Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made Man Utd stars do ahead of crunch Barcelona clash

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had his Manchester United players in for training over the weekend so he could tell them Barcelona's secrets.

United will have had eight days without a game when they face Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.

And Solskjaer has been putting that time to good use - first travelling to the Nou Camp to watch the Catalan club beat Atletico Madrid 2-0 on Saturday, and then calling his players in for training on Sunday so he could give them the lowdown on Barcelona's tactics.

United face one of the most feared teams in Europe on the back of a 2-1 Premier League defeat to their FA Cup conquerers Wolves .

That was the Red Devils' third defeat in four games since their stunning comeback win over Paris-Saint Germain in the last 16 of the Champions League.

In contrast, Barcelona are 11 points clear at the top of La Liga and on a 16-match unbeaten run, with seven games left to wrap up the defence of their crown.

Despite their recent blip, Manchester United have been transformed under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who led them into the Champions League quarter-finals and back into top-four contention before being promoted from caretaker manager to permanent boss on a three-year deal.

And Barca boss Ernesto Valverde is wary of the threat posed by United - especially with his team having never won at Old Trafford.

Barcelona given huge Champions League boost ahead of Man Utd clash

"They are a powerful team. They are going through a good run, even if they lost their last match," said Valverde, in quotes reported by The Sun .

"Physically they are really strong and they know how to put pressure on their opponents. They have players who are physically very powerful, and they can be dangerous strategically as well.

"This match is a classic in European football. Barcelona have never won at Old Trafford I believe and we are going to try and change that."
