What Odion Ighalo has said about Manchester United winger Alexis Sanchez

Odion Ighalo's boyhood dream is set to come true after he agreed a deal to join Manchester United on loan until the end of the season.

The Nigerian forward will return to the Premier League on a five month deal as he looks to help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fill the void left by the injured Marcus Rashford.

But, there is one thing missing for him upon his arrival in Manchester... His close friend Alexis Sanchez.

Ighalo will be hoping his January move to Old Trafford is better remembered than Sanchez's, but the Chile international is a player he idolises, even given his troubles at United.

The pair played together briefly at Italian side Udinese, and it is safe to say his ability left an almighty impression on the new United signing.

"I’ve played with some great players!" Ighalo told Cross The Line four years ago.

"I’ve played with Antonio Di Natalie, he’s such a great player and a legend and I respect him a lot.

"I’ve played with Alexis Sanchez too. I’ve had the privileged to play with some great players and there are lots of fantastic ones in Watford too.”

Even when Sanchez left Udinese to join Barcelona nine years ago he was wished well by the Nigerian forward ahead of facing him with loan club Granada.

“I’ve still got the shirts - I gave them to my brother,” said Ighalo. “It will be good to see Alexis again and we will swap shirts if it’s possible.

"He’s a fantastic player and will cause us problems, but after the game we can be friends again.

“Even before he went to Barcelona, you could see he was going to be a top player. He always wanted the ball, you could seen his quality when he trained and I’m really happy he’s doing well.”

A successful loan spell and Ighalo might get to fulfil his dream of playing alongside Sanchez again.
