What Nuno Tavares did after early substitution in Arsenal's FA Cup clash vs Nottingham Forest

Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares angrily threw his gloves to the ground after being substituted early into the game against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup third round.

Tavares, 21, joined the Gunners last summer from Benfica, usually playing as a secondary option to Kieran Tierney on the left flank.

The Portuguese youth international has made 13 appearances in the Premier League and four appearances in the Carabao Cup this season, often filling in for the Scot when he has suffered with injuries.

The full-back started in a somewhat rotated Arsenal backline against Nottingham Forest, with Rob Holding and Cedric Soares joining Ben White as part of the defence.

The Gunners stuttered and stalled in the opening half, though, with Forest making it tough for the side to create anything of note going forward.

A lack of movement from the away side only enhanced issues with finding teammates, though that was a particular issue for Tavares in his brief start.

Tierney could be seen intensely warming up on the sidelines before he came on for the left-back after just 30 minutes.

Mikel Arteta was clearly not too happy with what he saw from the full-back, who miscontrolled the ball on several occasions and put his side in danger with a poor backpass.

He cut a frustrated figure as he walked off, angrily throwing his gloves to the floor as he walked towards the bench.

Arteta has a track record of dealing with issues well, with the most recent case being Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who was stripped of the captaincy for a disciplinary breach.

Whether the Spaniard has anything to say or any action for the reaction will be seen, however it was clearly a very tough one for Tavares to take so soon into the game.
