What number will Desmond King wear with Titans?

The Tennessee Titans’ newest acquisition, defensive back Desmond King II, might be taking over the number of a recently-released cornerback.

On Tuesday, the Titans announced the release of veteran Johnathan Joseph just one day after trading for King. That means Joseph’s No. 33 is up for grabs, and it looks like King will take it.

King wore No. 20 throughout his career with the Los Angeles Chargers, but that number is currently owned by running back Senorise Perry, who is on Injured Reserve.

For now, it looks like King will be taking Joseph’s old number, as ESPN’s Turron Davenport revealed when he tweeted out a picture of the Titans’ roster.

King has yet to be designated a number on the team’s official site as of this writing, so this is all we have to go on. It’s very possible Perry gives up his No. 20 to King, but that remains to be seen.

The more important question is, when will King make his Titans debut?

Both general manager Jon Robinson and head coach Mike Vrabel have said that the earliest King will get into the building is on Saturday after he passes COVID-19 testing protocols, which leaves the door slightly ajar for him to play on Sunday.

However, King would be doing so with only Zoom meetings and no full practices under his belt. Still, he’ll probably be better than what the Titans were running out there before he arrived even without a lot of preparation.
