What Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi has said about January transfer business

The January transfer window is now up and running, with incomings and outgoings expected at Nottingham Forest.

Head coach Sabri Lamouchi has yet to make any new additions to his squad, but a striker is sure to be at the top of his shopping list as the Reds look to boost their attacking options.

A number of forwards have been linked with moves to the City Ground, while some Forest players are said to be attracting interest from elsewhere.

We've collated what Lamouchi has said about the window, so far.

The latest on player search

“I am just waiting, just like you. My phone is here!

“I just want the good news, but the good news for me is from my players (after their performance against Chelsea), it is not from outside.

“The club are looking around. They are working hard. And they will find a solution, I’m sure.

“But if not, we need to absolutely be positive; to absolutely focus on our squad and our players, because I trust them.”

On being linked with Diafra Sakho, who he worked with at Rennes

“No, I don’t think so,” was Lamouchi’s response when asked about the rumours.

On the possibility of players leaving

“Of course if some players come, we need to make some changes.

“But for the moment, that is not the priority.

“My priority is to keep the team spirit. I don’t want a lot of movement. I don’t want a lot of players. Because with more players, there are more problems if they don’t play.

“I want all players focused on our target. Our target is game by game, to fight and to work all together until the end.”

On recruitment

“Not only a striker. We need quality players; players who can help the team.

“Of course, we are waiting for some change and some players, but the club are working hard. But we are not alone (in looking) and the winter market is not an easy one.

“We are looking at a lot of players - good opportunities - and the club are working hard for that, like I’m working hard for the next games.

“I hope a signing will be soon, but we never know.

“Until the player signs, you are not close.

“There are many details - club, players, agents, numbers, choice, career.

“We have to be patient.”

On keeping players focused amid speculation

“No, it is not difficult to stay focused. That is my job every day.

“I will keep only the players focused and with me, with us.

“If you are (focused) on the project, you are with me. If you are not (focused) on the project, you are not with me. I don’t have time to lose.”

On the possibility of recalling Tyler Walker from Lincoln City

“He is doing very well there. It is a possibility, yes.

“But we are not the only ones who will decide that - the player, Lincoln, the club will decide.

“But I am confident (about signings) because between clever people we will find a solution (to strengthening in attack).”

On Joao Carvalho exit rumours

“I don’t know (about them), but I am happy with Joao.

“Maybe if he is a little bit less happy, I can understand that.

“But I know the quality of the players and he has a lot of quality.

“I need quality players and Joao is part of the squad, one (of the players) with the best quality.

“I want him with me. I want him with Forest. He will help us.”

On loan duo Arijanet Muric and Rafa Mir potentially returning to parent clubs

“Probably, yes.

“We need to decide with the club.

“But everything is under control from the club and they know exactly what I want and what we need. They are working hard for that.”

On target number of signings

“I have known a long time where I would like to strengthen.

“I don’t think we need many more players.

“If we find two players - maybe three, maximum - that’s fantastic. Three players can make the difference and help the team to play much better and achieve our goals.

“The club know exactly what we need.

“The club are working hard to find the right players and to find the key players who can help the team.

“Only the club can say if it will happen quickly or not.”
