There's an autumnal bite in the air and this column is feeling a similar nip of anticipation about the upcoming season's cultural offerings. So much enrichment to come!
At first, the big red circle in one's Smythson diary was reserved for the opening of a movie called The Town That Boars Me, a 15-minute musical that features cameo appearances from the talented likes of Kelly Osbourne and Sadie Frost. And I think we all know how much Frost improves a movie.
But screw that because autumn 08 is now all about ITV2. Most exciting is the way this channel, along with Hot Stars magazine and the News of the World's Fabulous supplement, is championing a redefinition of certain words in the English language.
In the case of ITV2, that word is "celebrity". First, there's the station's upcoming airline reality show, starring former Steps member Lisa Scott-Lee and former Blazin' Squad member (you may begin to see a pattern here) Kenzie, and called, joshingly, CelebAir. CelebWhere, etc and so forth.
Then there's something called Celebrity Juice, which will feature Leigh Francis and Holly Willoughby. But Lost in Showbiz is most excited about ITV2's Paris Hilton's New Best Friend, in which the latest entrant into the American political fray takes to the streets of London to find her NBF.
Oh yeah, Paris: LA always was too small for the likes of you. Come to London. Come and get off with Rhys Ifans at Bungalow 8. The universe demands it.
