What Noni Madueke did to Frank Lampard as Chelsea end losing streak with win vs Bournemouth

Chelsea have finally won a game of football under Frank Lampard. The Blues had lost their previous six games in all competitions following the appointment of Lampard as caretaker-manager until the end of the season.

Conor Gallagher's header from close range saw Chelsea take an early lead before Matias Vina equalised for Bournemouth moments later. Noni Madueke was a constant threat throughout the first-half as the January signing completed more take-ons than any other player on the pitch.

Chelsea fans booed some of Lampard's substitutions despite being forced into a late change as Ben Chilwell had to be withdrawn after suffering a hamstring injury. Benoit Badiashile and Joao Felix sealed the three points with two late goals as the Blues mathematically secured their Premier League survival with a crucial win at the Vitality Stadium.

The first change for Chelsea came as Lampard made a double substitution - taking off Mykhailo Mudryk and N'Golo Kante for Raheem Sterling and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Following Sterling's introduction, the caretaker manager swapped Madueke out to the left-wing after he had enjoyed himself taking on Vina on the right in the first 45 minutes.

The 21-year-old had less of an impact on the left-wing and pleaded his case to Lampard on the touchline as he looked to be swapped back to his original position. The Blues boss agreed and reversed his tactical tweak, allowing Madueke to have a greater influence on the play.

Lampard revealed after the game that Madueke had been struggling with a sickness bug after his goal against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium earlier this week. The former PSV winger impressed fans with his performance as he now looks to have made another strong argument to start the game against Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge next weekend.
