Noel Whelan has said that Leeds United have become a "very honest club" thanks in part to chief executive Angus Kinnear.
The Whites currently sit at the top of Championship table and were closing in on a long-awaited return to the Premier League before football in England was suspended indefinitely.
And with football likely to be played behind closed doors when, and if, it returns, the club reassured supporters that they are in the process of refunding and crediting ticket holders.
A statement via the club's official website read: "Leeds United would like to reassure Season Ticket Holders and those who have purchased tickets for individual games (including hospitality customers) that we are working on refund and club credit options for our remaining Championship fixtures along with our Centenary game following announcements from the Government this week.
"We thank supporters for their patience on this matter, the club will contact all those affected as soon as details are confirmed."
This decision has prompted Whelan to pay tribute to the Leeds United chief.
"Leeds United have become a very, very honest club now and business, that’s a nice side of it – they’re not keeping people’s money, they know how important it is for some people to have that money in their bank right now," Whelan told Football Insider.
"They know the implications of the money that’s being put into the club by the fans and if they can’t have it – but I’ve seen the majority of them saying keep the money and we’ll put it towards our season ticket next year.
"That’s how positive they feel about the club and how it’s being ran.
"It’s nice to hear that from Angus, I spoke to him last week, really, really good guy, has the best interests at heart for this club, along with the chairman and everyone else.
"He’s desperate to see Leeds United go up, he really is, there’s nothing more that he wants.
"Everyone’s worked so hard behind the scenes, they’re still working hard during these troubled times to be fair with the fans and fair with the club, the players and everyone in general."
