Eddie Hearn believes Katie Taylor must finally fight Amanda Serrano next year.
The bout was originally scheduled to take place in May, 2020, but was cancelled because of Covid-19.
It then fell through again a couple of months later over a disagreement about fight purses.
But Hearn is confident that the bout can be made and is hopeful of it taking place next year, with Taylor expected to fight another opponent before then in December.
When asked what is next for Taylor after the undisputed lightweight champion's win over Jennifer Han on Saturday night, Hearn said: "I think she fights again in December and then I think she has to fight Amanda Serrano.
"It's not her fault that that fight hasn't been made. It was a mixture of many things, but that's the past.
"I think we have to [make the fight]. Amanda Serrano fancies that fight. I believe she's done a fantastic job to raise her profile. She brings tremendous value in that fight as well. She can be rewarded for that value.

"I think we can headline that fight at Madison Square Garden - by far and away the biggest fight in women's boxing. We have to do that fight. We have to make that fight because I feel that if we don't it will be a piece missing from a wonderful career."
Taylor set the tempo from the start against Han, landing accurate lead lefts and strong right hands as she wore down Han before dropping her with a short left in the eighth, although Han protested a slip.
The three ringside judges concurred that Taylor had won every round of the contest, handing her a 100-89 points victory.
