What new Chelsea signing Christian Pulisic said in an emotional farewell to Borussia Dortmund

There were a few question marks over the size of the fee that Chelsea shelled out for Christian Pulisic in January.

The American star cost £57.6million in the January transfer window, but was immediately loaned back to Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the 2018/19 season.

The 20-year-old had not been a regular starter for the Bundesliga side, but was a hot prospect, with a number of Premier League clubs reported to be tracking him.

Chelsea won the race for his signature and he has signed off five years at Signal Iduna Park in emotional style on Saturday.

Can Christian Pulisic fill the Chelsea void Eden Hazard would leave if he signs for Real Madrid?

The American international was presented with flowers and a canvas montage of his finest moments in the yellow shirt with the words 'Danke Christian' on it.

And to cap off his final home game for the club he went and scored in a 3-2 win over Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Bayern Munich's goalless draw with Red Bull Leipzig means the Bundesliga title race will go down to the final day, with Dortmund two points behind.

Signing off in style, Pulisic said: "Thank you for five wonderful years. Without you fans, I would not be here. Dortmund will always feel like home. All the best and hopefully see you again one day."

Speaking after the game about his move to Chelsea, Pulisic said: "It felt right. There used to be only the Premier League for me, I watched them on TV, I saw Chelsea's games with Frank Lampard. The five years here have been the best of my life, but it's still the right step. It went perfectly.

Arsenal and Chelsea fans issue strong joint statement on 'laughable' Europa League final venue

"I could not be happier with how everything came about. I never thought that by the age of 20 I would be ready. Of course the championship would be the perfect end of the day, but in general it was a great time."

And the Chelsea supporters are looking forward to seeing him wear the Blue at Stamford Bridge next season.
