What Neil Warnock has said about Victor Camarasa amid interest from Crystal Palace and Burnley

Neil Warnock has confirmed that he has spoken to his old club Crystal Palace about Victor Camarasa, amid interest from the Eagles in signing the Spanish midfielder.

Palace and Burnley have both been linked with the Real Betis midfielder, who spent last season on loan at Cardiff City, scoring five times in 33 appearances for Warnock’s men.

Camarasa is now back in Spain after the Bluebirds were relegated from the Premier League, although his future remains uncertain, with interest from elsewhere, including the two English top flight clubs.

And Warnock, who has had two separate spells as Palace manager, has admitted that he has been in contact with both the Eagles and Burnley about the 25-year-old and what he could offer.

"They rang us up about him,” the Cardiff City boss revealed, speaking ahead of the Bluebirds’ opening game of the new Championship season against Wigan Athletic.

"What can we say, we were gutted, really, but we gave him a good reference.

"Burnley enquired as well, there were one or two clubs and I’m sure he’ll enjoy it. He’s a good player, one of the best midfield players I've had under me."
