Rangers want Bailey Rice to sign a new contract before they will consider sending him out on loan.
The 18-year-old midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season.
He joined Rangers' academy from Motherwell in 2022, having previously played with the likes of Lennon Miller in the youth set up at Fir Park.
Motherwell are believed to be interested in taking Rice back in a season-long loan move.
However, we understand that in order for that to be sanctioned, Rangers want Rice to commit his future at Ibrox.
While talks are ongoing, an agreement over a contract extension has yet to be struck.
Russell Martin has fielded Rice just once in competitive action so far this season, when he played him at left-back during the 4-2 victory over Alloa Athletic in the Premier Sports Cup.
