What Mikel Arteta did immediately after Hector Bellerin's equaliser for Arsenal against Chelsea

Mikel Arteta's big Arsenal decision paid off against Chelsea on Tuesday night.

The main news ahead of kick-off in west London was the Spaniard opting to hand Hector Bellerin a start in place of Ainsley Maitland-Niles at right-back.

It was the defender's first appearance since the home defeat by Brighton and Hove Albion at the beginning of last month.

And he marked his return to the side with a dramatic equaliser for the ten-men of Arsenal.

Cutting on to his weaker left foot, Bellerin curled an effort into the bottom corner to spark wild scenes from the Gunners players as well as the supporters in the away end.

Football.london were at Stamford Bridge for the four-goal thriller and noticed what Arteta did as soon as the ball hit the back of the net for the Gunners.

He punches the air with delight then turned to Eddie Nketiah and told him to get his coat back on.

It would appear that the Gunners head coach was preparing to bring on the striker who was recently recalled from a loan spell with Leeds United, but Bellerin's goal altered his thinking.

As a result, his final change was to bring on Joe Willock for Gabriel Martinelli - scorer of the visitors' first equaliser on the night - as Arsenal held on for a battling point.

It's yet another draw for Arsenal in the league, but the manner of the performance after going down to 10-men so early on will please Arteta as well as the travelling supporters.

They remain 10 points behind the Blues in the race for a top-four spot.

Next up for Arteta and company is an FA Cup fourth round tie away at Bouremouth.

That game is to be played at the Vitality Stadium next Monday night - four days before transfer deadline day.

However, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and David Luiz won't feature due to suspension, with the latter seeing red for bringing down Tammy Abraham on his first return to Stamford Bridge as an Arsenal player.
