Mike Phelan remains uncertain about what will happen with the technical director job at Manchester United - according to former Republic of Ireland manager Brian Kerr.
A run of just two wins in 11 games have plunged United into crisis under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the most recent disappointment was a 1-1 draw with the Premier League's basement club Huddersfield Town on Sunday.
Kerr was at the John Smith's Stadium in a media capacity and he spoke to Phelan about United while at the game.
Phelan has been linked with the role of technical director and it's been reported Solskjaer wants his current assistant to take up that role.
United have been looking to make a technical director appointment for a number of months and former defender Rio Ferdinand is the latest to be linked with the post, having met with Ed Woodward.

But according to Kerr Phelan remains uncertain about what will happen with the position and he believes the club's stance is changing on a regular basis as results have fallen away recently.
"Even Mike Phelan said to me there [yesterday] - the picture changes from week to week," Kerr told Off the Ball.
"I was asking him if he's going to be in the coaching role next year or the role of the technical director and he said 'I don't know, they haven't spoken to me. They haven't talked to me yet'."
