What Michail Antonio has said about Manuel Pellegrini and VAR penalty claim after West Ham win

Michail Antonio has insisted that West Ham's players are fully behind under-fire Manuel Pelligrini after their 1-0 win at Southampton.

The Hammers came away with an all-important three points on the south coast as Sebastian Haller marked his return to the starting XI with the only goal of the game.

The visitors thought they had doubled their lead in the second half but Antonio saw his solo effort ruled out by VAR for handball, much to the disappointment of the West Ham forward.

However, a second win in 12 games across all competitions has lifted the mood around the London Stadium and eased the growing pressure on Manuel Pelligrini.

The former Manchester City is the favourite to become the next Premier League manager to leave their post after a disappointing run of form, with West Ham 15th in the table after Saturday's result.

However, Antonio, who has been a star performer since returning from a hamstring injury, has insisted they are fully behind their manager.

"It was a massive result today. We have massive respect for him and last season we played well under him and we started this season well," Antonio told Sky Sports.

"We have had a bit of a blip and I've been here five years and we always do this but we come out of it. Hopefully, this is a turning point and we start moving forward.

"Basically we [Antonio and Haller] both feel that we got fouled. I was in a headlock and on another day it would have been a penalty.

"The referee decided it wasn't but we kept going and we picked up the three points, which was the most important thing."
