What Mauricio Pochettino said in Qatar about how he is trying to fix Spurs, Daniel Levy and more

Mauricio Pochettino gave a presentation this week out in Qatar in which he spoke about the problems right now at Tottenham Hotspur and his relationship with his chairman Daniel Levy.

The Spurs manager travelled across to Doha to present a coaching masterclass at the Aspire Fellows Summit in Doha, along with his assistant manager Jesus Perez, as one of a number of representatives from Premier League clubs in attendance at the event.

The Tottenham duo delivered their seminar on Monday which focused on maintaining control of players' emotions and referred to his team's recent struggles and lack of confidence, which has seen them crash out of the Carabao Cup at Colchester United, lost 7-2 at home to Bayern Munich in the Champions League and then on Saturday lose 3-0 at Brighton, who had not won in the Premier League since the first day of the season.

Spanish media outlet AS were able to take down plenty from Pochettino's multimedia presentation on Monday.

Here is what the Tottenham manager said to his audience about various subjects:

His introduction

I want to congratulate the Aspire academy for the excellent work it is doing and for the infrastructure they have. Also for the title of Qatar in the last Asian Cup. I appreciate you counting on me for your football seminar.

Emotion and football

Football is a context of emotion. It represents passions, emotions, but now it has also become a great love, a love to madness. Football is necessary to achieve our goals. Without football, we cannot explain emotions. They are inseparable.

Mood and the future at Spurs

We at Tottenham work as a team. After two big defeats like the ones we have suffered, we have to think about the future. You have to recover the emotional level. When you are on the top, you feel you must respond to dignity.

Taking responsibility

The responsibility for the coaches is very great. You have to convince the players and people of what you do. Sometimes you have to react as brothers, as psychiatrists.

What they expected from me when I arrived is not only football knowledge or knowing use one system and another. It's more than that.

Motivating the players and himself

Football is born in the heart. Our responsibility is to be guardians of this, make sure you don't forget. You have to help the players to motivate themselves. But how can you motivate yourself after the Champions League? I say 'Are we professionals or not?'.

Changes within a team like Spurs

It is difficult to control the emotions when you play the Champions League final and in a few months you are now in the situation you are in.

Things change fast in football. You can be a team last year and a very different one now. In our hand is changing the dynamics. Fight. This sport works like this.

How to fix things at Tottenham

The team has lost confidence after two goals against. We have to work to win that trust again. We talk to the players. We tell them that we have lost by mistakes, but we must try to forget them. The best way to help the player is not telling him that he has done s**t. You can't hide. You have to share the responsibility.

His relationship with Daniel Levy

People can say that the relationship with the chairman has worsened, but it has not. The important thing is to maintain this relationship and keep our respect. We need to know how to manage our philosophy to be together.

Leading a large staff of people and players

I have a team of 50 people who work with me. How to get my philosophy? Talking to the players. Not with four or five nearby players, but with everyone.

A club is not just the people who work on it or the team, so it is in the stands and their culture. You have to understand the history of the team you are in.

The role of chance and luck

In football there is always a part of luck, of play. What can we do when a forward stays in front of a goalkeeper? Pray? What we can do is create habits. Make the players have some very unconscious things.

Even in the Champions League final, losing 1-0 from the first minute, the team continued to play as we had taught. That is the assimilation to look for.
