Yet more pressure was piled onto the shoulders of Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Wednesday evening after his side suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League.
Despite having recorded impressive victories over the much-fancied Paris Saint-Germain and Red Bull Leipzig in their first two outings in Group H, United were stunned by their Turkish opponents on Wednesday night.
Former Chelsea and West Ham United striker Demba Ba fired the home side in front after just 12 minutes before Edin Visca doubled the home side's advantage just five minutes before half time.
United, though, did half the deficit just moments later, pulling one back through Anthony Martial. It was not enough, though, to prevent United from suffering their first Champions League defeat of the campaign.
The defeat was a second in a row for Solskjaer's side, with Arsenal having defeated them 1-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday.
With that in mind, pressure is mounting on Solskjaer, with United fans urging the club's board to make a change, with former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino once again being heavily linked with the role.
Earlier this week, Pochettino, appearing on Monday Night Football, admitted that he was ready to make a return to management.
“I always feel ready to be again involved in the game," Pochettino told Sky Sports on Monday Night Football.
"Football is my passion, it’s not stress when you are working, it’s not a stress to go into the training ground, it’s not a stress to prepare for the game, it’s not a stress to compete.
"I am looking forward to being involved in the game. I love the game, it’s difficult, we are inside, we are working, but it’s not the same as being involved every single day, the time you spent with your players and your staff.
"You miss that, that’s the reality.”
