What Mauricio Pochettino has done after being 'confirmed' as a candidate to become Arsenal boss

Arsenal's search for a new head coach has brought about surprise links to Mauricio Pochettino.

The north London outfit parted ways with Unai Emery on Friday morning - less than 24 hours after he had overseen a seventh straight game across all competitions without a win.

Speculation has been rife as to who will be the next Arsenal head coach with Mikel Arteta, Max Allegri, Brendan Rodgers and Patrick Vieira all touted as potential replacements.

On the same day as Emery's departure, the Athletic reported that the Gunners view former the Tottenham Hotspur boss as a credible option to succeed the Spaniard.

However, the report does claim that while he is among the list of candidates to replace Emery, it's unclear as to how he would view an approach given his close ties to the Lilywhites.

This prompted a huge reaction from Gunners fans on social media.

But for many Spurs supporters, the idea of Pochettino's next job being at the Emirates Stadium is not worth thinking about.

With that said, it would appear that the Argentine is enjoying a well-earned break rather than sitting down with Josh Kroenke, Raul Sanellhi and Edu about becoming Arsenal head coach.

As seen in the video clip below - via the Evening Standard - Pochettino has been back in his homeland and even attended the Newell's Old Boys vs River Plate clash in Rosario.

Pochettino has previously insisted that he would never work for Spurs' bitter north London rivals.

"I would never train Barcelona or Arsenal because I am tied to Tottenham. I grew up at Newell's and I would never train Rosario Central," he said.

"This is my decision. I would prefer to work on my farm in Argentina than to go and work in certain places."

Although, as spotted by some eagle-eyed Arsenal fans there's a line Pochettino's statement which was released via he LMA regarding his Spurs departure which has prompted theories that he could have a change of heart.
