Ben Chilwell was given a somewhat hostile reception as he arrived at St George’s Park ahead of the commencement of England’s Euro 2020 campaign.
With the Three Lions’ first match being at Wembley Stadium versus Croatia on Sunday afternoon, the team have gathered at their traditional training base of St George’s Park.
The entire squad came together following the nation’s warm-up games against Austria and Romania, with the Chelsea players including Chilwell, Mount and Reece James all amongst those to arrive following their extended break after the Blues’ UEFA Champions League success.
However, the Chelsea left-back did not receive the welcome that he might have wanted.
Arriving at St George’s Park, the 24-year-old was jokingly booed by Mount and Declan Rice upon his arrival, as shown on the official England YouTube show Inside Access.
If the booing was not enough, West Ham United man Rice then cranked up the teasing with a chorus of “who are you?” directed at Chilwell.
The two antagonists then directed a cheeky smile at the camera with the Chelsea left-back continuing to be the target of the joke.
Whilst there appears to be a jovial mood within camp upon arrival at St George’s Park, there will of course be an air of focus with England set to kick-off their Euro 2020 campaign this Sunday against Croatia.
Gareth Southgate’s men then face Scotland and the Czech Republic as they attempt to plot a route out of the group and into the knockout stages.
Both Mount and Chilwell will hope to be included in the starting line-up having collected 16 and 14 caps for their country respectively.
