What Marcos Alonso has done amid talk of Ben Chilwell or Alex Telles to Chelsea transfer

Marcos Alonso is facing consistent speculation regarding his Chelsea future.

The left-back has experienced somewhat of a strange season under Frank Lampard thus far as Emerson Palmieri and Cesar Azpilicueta have been preferred to him in the left-back slot at times.

However, prior to the Premier League campaign being brought to a halt because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Spaniard had forced his way back into the Blues head coach's plans.

And he repaid such faith with goals against Tottenham Hotspur as well as Bournemouth to keep the west London outfit in the driving seat to seal a top-four finish.

Although, it's not stopped Chelsea being linked with reinforcements in defence when the summer transfer window opens.

Given Lampard is well-stocked for options at right-back as well as in central defence, he is expected to move for a left-back and that could be bad news for Alonso or Emerson.

As revealed by football.london last week, Leicester City's Ben Chilwell and Porto's Alex Telles are both on the Blues' radar and neither would make the move to Stamford Bridge to play second fiddle.

"One of the areas that the Blues will be looking to buy in is the left-back position and Telles is certainly on the radar," football.london's Chelsea correspondent Oliver Harbord said in a Q&A session.

"However, there is no deal yet, but remains a cheaper option than someone like Ben Chilwell."

With that said, Alonso doesn't appear to be all that concerned about rumours that the club could sign a player in direct competition for his place in the team.

He even took to social media on Tuesday and posted a rather bizarre video on Twitter of him training in his garden.

Should Telles or Chilwell arrive in west London this summer then Alonso could be pushed even further down the pecking order and that might prompt him to seek an exit.

If Chelsea were to cash in on the Spaniard, they could command a nice transfer fee.

According to transfermarkt, Alonso's value is £22.5m and that could be used to fund a deal for one of the aforementioned left-back targets.
